This year, we are pleased to be offering bike and kayak rentals for out-of-town racers who cannot bring their own gear.
Bike Rentals
Sockeye Cycle Co. is offering bike rentals with special pickup and drop-off options for this event:
- Participants should use the below link to select a single day rental for Saturday 5/24/24.
- Bikes can be picked up on Friday 5/23 between 9am and 5:30pm at Sockeye Cycle Co – 24 Portage Drive in Haines
- Bikes can be locked up at the end of the bike leg at the Fort Seward Barracks building, where they will be collected by Sockeye Cycle.
- Road Bikes can be rented at a rate of $65 + tax and include Specialized Allez or similar lightweight bikes with drop bars.
- Hybrid bikes with flat bars can be rented at a rate of $45 + tax and include Specialized Sirrus, Vita, or similar bike.
- A helmet is included with all rentals.
- Pedal options can be specified during the rental and installed upon pickup – any personal pedals will be removed from bikes upon return and available for pickup after the race.

Kayak Rentals
Southeast Alaska Expeditions has approximately 10 kayaks and probably more single plastic kayaks from Necky and Current designs available for rent for the Chilkat Challenge Triathlon. The cost to rent the kayaks is $55 plus Haines Borough sales Tax per day. SEAK Expeditions will include drop off and pick up in the price.
